What we know so far about the new Jeepers Creepers installment
The iconic Jeepers Creepers franchise begin in 2001 with the introduction of The Creeper—an invincible winged demon that feeds for 23 days every 23 years. While this critically acclaimed slasher has many supernatural features, many fans don’t know that there is some real-life inspiration behind his character. Killer Dennis Depue shot and killed his wife in 1990 after she filed for divorce, dumping her body behind an abandoned schoolhouse. The Creep similarly disposes of his victims behind an abandoned church. And, much like the events of the movie, DePue would tailgate onlookers in his van after they witnessed what he had done.
That said, it only makes sense that this franchise would rise from the dead after five years to bring horror lovers another chilling installment, Jeepers Creepers: Reborn.
What we know so far about this new Jeepers Creepers movie:
Jeepers Creepers: Reborn is the fourth film in the time-honored franchise, which is set to stand apart from the previous installments. Kicking off a new trilogy, the plot commences at a fake event called, Horror Hound Festival, in Louisiana. Sadly, for those who RSVP, the creeper is also in attendance.
While the official release date is still unknown, after being pushed from its original airing date of October 28, 2021, fans can expect the movie to grace big screens sometime in 2022. With filming of the Jeepers Creepers movie beginning in December of 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic brought forth many struggles for the film, as director Timo Vuorensola was restricted from traveling in and out of Finland for many months due to restrictions.
Although the entire cast is also not confirmed, we do know that Jarreau Benjamin will be taking over the role of The Creeper. With Dee Wallace listed to appear in the film as well.
